1. Our Story
Located in a serene environment in Embu County, Embu Kawa Academy and Junior Secondary School is a mixed boarding and day school offering Competence Based Curriculum (CBC). The school which opened its doors in January 2005, starts from pre-school to Grade 9. Specifically, Embu Kawa School offers 2 years of pre-primary education, 6 years of primary education and 3 years of junior secondary education.

To nurture learners into adults who have the knowledge, skills, competencies and moral values to not only succeed physically, professionally and materially in life, but also have an impact both nationally and internationally.

Provide in-depth practical learning experiences that will prepare learners for higher education, professional life and competitiveness nationally and globally in the 21st century and beyond.

2. Our Approach
We believe in offering valuable ideals to our learners. We educate the child to be ready for life and work in the modern world, while aiming to make Embu Kawa a world class school.
Embu Kawa School provides the 4 key areas needed for formation of a holistic person, namely: intellectual (academic), physical, social and spiritual. We aim at producing pupils who are Knowledgeable, have right/positive Attitudes, build and sustain Wisdom, and become Achievers in all aspects of life, hence (KAWA).
Our Motto ‘Quality Education for Quality Life’ has a motivating impetus in pupils. Human beings love Quality Life. Every day, people work hard in order to enjoy such life. By offering quality education, we offer a foundation and work towards ensuring holistic learners in readiness to participate in nation building.

3. History
Embu Kawa Academy opened its doors in January 2005. The school started as a mixed boarding primary school from Standard 4 to 8 until 2011. In 2012, the school started offering lower primary classes (Standard 1-3); and in 2013, the school began offering Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) (Pre-school – Play group 3 years, PP1 – 4 years and PP2 – 5 years). In 2017, Embu Kawa School started offering CBC, following the change of the education system by the Government of Kenya. The school now offers both primary and Juniour Secondary Education (CBC).
